In response to some conversation I have been having with somebody who previusly commented on my blog I've decided to make a little post about a Warrior Levelling Guide.
As anyone who knows me can tell you - I'm no fan of reinventing the wheel unless absolutely necessary. In this instance, it isn't. So without further ado I will simply prompt you to read
Ciderhelm's Warrior Levelling Guide on TankSpot.com. This is without a doubt one of the best levelling guides available to you as a Warrior.
This will advise you to spec as a Fury warrior, with a dual-wielding spec based. I however levelled differently - as an Arms warrior. Why? Well, levelling might have been slower. But I enjoyed visiting battlegrounds at the top of each bracket (19, 29, 39, 49, 59/60) - where Arms is without a doubt the better spec for a warrior to engage in PvP combat.
If you fancy levelling with Arms then head on as follows:
10-14 - Cruelty (5/5, Fury Tree, will increase rage gain and damage done).
15-19 - Deflection (5/5, Arms Tree, will slightly increase downtime between mobs over time).
20-21 - Improved Charge (2/2, Arms Tree, will increase rage generation).
22-24 - Improved Thunder Clap (3/3, Arms Tree, will greatly decrease dps taken from melee mobs and increase ability to tank).
25-26 - Improved Overpower (2/2, Arms Tree, will greatly crit chance and hence damage done from your situational overpower ability).
27-29 - Deep Wounds (3/3, Arms Tree, apply a DOT more powerful than rend to your foe when you strike with a crit).
30-31 - Impale (2/2, Arms Tree, increase the amount of bonus damage dealt with critical stikes).
32-34 - Improved Heroic Strike (3/3, Arms Tree, I'm not overly keen with this - but I believe it to yeild more damage than Two-Handed Weapon Specialization at this level).
35 - Deathwish (1/1, Arms Tree, Awesome ability, get it, use it, love it).
36-39 - [Weapon Specialization] (4/5, Arms Tree, Spec into the weapon you currently use more often - at this level it is likely to be Axe as there are more good axes available at this level).
40------- Respec time. Head to a warrior trainer and unlearn your talents and respend them to the following spec (again weapon based, you'll have to change my choice of Poleaxe Specialization to whatever suits you best).
Level 40 Respec Time.
We did this to get Mortal Strike (awesome, high damage
extra instant attack).
From there continue as follows:
41-44 Cruelty (5/5, Fury Tree, again - lets get that crit chance up again).
From there on in you are flexable to spec however you like right through to level 70. You have the basics of an awesome talent spec. You can get deeper into the Arms tree to get talents like Blood Frenzy (which is awesome in an instance with Hunters and other Melee characters). Second Wind is also another awesome Arms talent - giving you a nice bonus heal everytime you are stunned or incapacitated - this scales with the amout of Health you have though, so avoid it if you are unsually low). Speccing into Fury and Protection trees will benefit you greatly for combat utility (Fury will offer more Rage generation and increased power on your Shouts and Protection will offer you Rage retention, survivability and threat generation).
A note on pre level 60 tanking. Don't spec as Protection to tank instances below level 60. It quite frankly, not required. I managed to tank everything upto and including some of the first bosses in BWL as a Fury/Arms warrior before The Burning Crusade was released.
I hope this helps.
